Jesus taught believers to pray, “Forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors” (Matt. 6:12). Paul urged Christ’s followers to forgive one another as Christ forgave them (Col. 3:13). Christ gives Christians a mandate to forgive and provides a model of forgiveness that is necessary for healthy relationships.
